Dang, I just got something in the mail last week, for a new inlay company, that did custom work.

Showed a picture of a photo graph, the did a custom inlay from.

I have looked and looked for that brochure, and I think the wife threw it away.

Sure do, although one piece doesn't sound feasible in that size.

contact a good stone fabricator, they can make one any size you want.

I used a stone fabricator recently to make a 4ft stone medallion to match the chandelier hanging above it, awesome.

I found the gtanite! 3/4" thick by 7'6", so now how to put it in the floor??
this granite weighs about 700lbs...so, I assume I have to lay that in the floor first, then install around it....how can i get the cuts around the granite "PERFECT" LIKE IT WAS ROUTERED OUT!!
or is there a way to install the floor, router out a 8ft diameter, then lay it in?

Make a template pattern of the inset. Lay your floor. Set the template on the finished floor where you want the medallion to go. Mark your cutout with the template. Cut out the flooring where the medallion is going to be inset. Install the medallion.

Pretty difficult to make a good template thats almost feet in diameter. If your medallion is round then make a swing arm from some decent plywood and attach your router, it will cut a perfect circle for your medallion.

Felt paper, duct taped together at the seams, works great for making a pattern.

If the sheet vinyl guys can pattern scribe, I think a medallion would be even easier to pattern scribe.

the trick will be dropping a 700lb inlay into the hole you cut out then getting the thing back out after you check it for fit. I have seen guys do this with big glass suction cups on smaller ones. Good luck.
