Vinyl planks have a picture of wood on the surface. It can have the grain pattern embossed into the surface so it looks like wood. If it is installed over a smooth surface it will last as long as the sheets of vinyl that have been common since it replaced linoleum. The trim will make it look good if it is installed carefully.
