Just finished a 5" gluedown. Not a bad floor and I am not dissing the general milling or finishing. But the boxes the wood was shipped in were way to big so the wood just slid around in the boxes. The boxes were even longer than the longest lengths. Not filled to the top tightly. No slip sheeting inbetween the wood to protect the finish from getting all banged up.

I see Chinese packaging done much better.

I found chips, dents, splintered edges in at least 5% of the wood. This is not F'in funny.

I will never tell a customer to buy Armstrong, Bruce, or Hartco again in my lifetime.

Sounds like you had a mess on your hands. Ran into the same type of packaging by Armstrong once, but it was off goods, brown box, no printing. This was 1st quality?

Howard, these boxes had all the print any other 1st has. It was supposed to be first. I told the supplyer to call the rep and make a formal complaint. But I doubt that would help.

they will just hide behind the 5% rule which I think is some hogwash anyway.

Kevin, I agree with the hogwash 5% rule as well. If I was making a product...well we do make a product don't we....could we get by with a 5% rule? I doubt we could get away with telling our clients...hey 5% of you flooring install can be defective. lol

Besides that we all know that manufacturers quality control is just an industry myth. We are the QC arn't we?

yea its horse sheznit for sure. If you figure that by the truck-load they are saying 800 to a 1000 sf can be unacceptable? All they are doing is keeping the average yield up a bit so their number look better. Thats a ton of flooring they are getting top dollar for that should have been downgraded to cabin/tavern.
