Hi

I am a newbee and started my first bamboo flooring project at home. I have following equipment

5-Gallon Air compressor -New
Bostitch Floor stapler - New

To my surprise every where i read about the PSI for this stapler, its 70-80 PSI recomended. But my stapler works at ~42. Just above it it splits the tongue.

Also, after hitting first stapler preasure drops to ~38 and the next stapler wont go in.

Has any one faced this issue. I have even changed my compressor but same thing.

Please help.

May be something wrong with the regulator, and it not regulating a constant pressure.

Are you positive the manufacturer of your bamboo, recommends it be fasten down? A lot of bamboo cannot be fastened, and is only a gluedown product.

With the pressure you say your shooting, that is some soft bamboo!!! Must be really "new growth"

Hi, I,m an installer in the massachusetts area . I,ve only put in Bamboo a handfull of times but manufacturer always recomended 20 gage cleat for which I have a power nailer 200 . A 15 gage staple will split tongue. I personally believe a 20 gage cleat is to thin because I notice a few creaks in the floors . I think 18 gage would be more sufficient. The first job I did I had a regular staple gun and I did split alot of tongues . Got caught off gaurd without the right tool . I believe all the jobs were Hawa Bamboo

Thanks you all for taking time to reply.

Few thing worked, I changed my compressor yet one more time and adjusted preasure before attaching the compressor and it seems to work. I would reco Husky compressor (6 Gal from HD) was 150 got it on sale for $100.

Another thing worked was changing shoe of my stapler. I had put in a worng size.

Still there splits at 2-3 places in a 15 foot run.

I liked idea of using 18G staple instead of 15G.
