most of you will say – it’s a matter of taste. I lean towards vertical. It is less “spotty” and gives a more consistent look.

What would be your argumentation choosing one over another?

I have done minimal reading on bamboo, but I have read that vertical cuts are stronger than horizontal cuts.

I much prefer the look of the vertical bamboo flooring - much more consistant feel. Here is a brief description of the types of bamboo flooring that are available... Hope this helps

Natural color – Lightly colored similar to Maple flooring

Carbonized – The result of a steaming process that gives the Bamboo a caramel coloring.

Horizontal – Flat pressed Bamboo consisting of 3 layers (shows growth nodes)

Vertical – Side pressed Bamboo consisting of layers of bamboo vertically placed (growth nodes are less prevalent)

Woven Strand – Stranded Bamboo consisting of Bamboo Fibers being pressed to form a plank floor
