Hi, I just started a DIY install of 5/8 bamboo and right off ran into problems. When I drive a staple into the tounge groove of the bamboo it doesn't seat completly flush. It's about 1/8 to high. I started off at 80PSI and increased to 120PSI with no success. That was using I have a spotnails WS4840W2 with a 1 3/8 nylon staples.

I went to the local fastener store with a sample of the bamboo and they recommened the Bostitch SX150-BHF-2. We tried that with a 1 1/2 staples with the same results.

I'm about to bite the bullet and get the MIIIFS, but the guys at the fastener store said I would have lots of problems with the 15 guage staple and the tounge of the bamboo.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

It must be your compressor then. If two different staplers produced the same results, then the compressor is not putting out the correct amount of air, IMO. Either that or you trying to staple into concrete  .

I was thinking that too at first, however I wasn't that as clear in explaining the attempt with the Bostitch SX150-BHF-2. It was used and tested at the fastener store. So it was on a differnt compressor.

No concrete , Just a plywood subfloor.

Tommorrow, I think i'll rent the MIIIFS and get it a shot.

thanks

To make an even longer story short. I adjusted the plate and shimmed the bottom of the Spotnails stapler and it started seating the staples at the correct depth. Occationally it won't set the staple all the way down, but those are few and far between.

So, the install is still ongoing. I knew it would be slow, since its my first and I'm on my own since the wife is pregant. I have the hallway, one bedroom, and about 2/3 of the great room done. Just the office and the master bedroom togo.
