I want to refinish my face-nailed white oak floors and want to hide all those nail holes running in rows across the whole floor.

I will probably be staining with a Minwax English Chestnut (I think that's the name) and I'm looking for a wood filler that will take the stain just like the wood.

Also, would I apply the filler before the final sanding stage?

Is it worth getting a pre-colored wood-filler* to use, such as what Minwax makes? (At what stage would I apply that?)

Thank you!

:? ??????????????
That's what stain is, pre-colored. IMO, and what I use for 5/16" face-nailed floors, is "Goop-On". It's sort of a local thing around here (N. CA.) and I don't know if you'll be able to get it where you are. If not, Woodwise Wood Patch in natural white oak.(not full trowel filler) That will shrink too much. Apply before final sanding of edges and field.
