I have finished in place oak floors coated with oil based poly. The contractor said I could move the furniture back after 4 days. Well I did move a piece of furniture and I now have two 6 foot long "white" streaks across the floor. I protected the floor with a quilt but evidently that wasn't enough. The contractor will be coming back to fix a rough area in another room, can he fix this too? How complicated is it to fix? Please tell me it will be OK, I've been living in a construction zone for a week, and I'm heart broken that I've ruined my beautiful floor!

How much work is involved? The room has 1/2 of the furniture in it. I was afraid to move any more back in after the incident. Does it all have to come out again? Any idea what it will cost to fix?

Just wanted to let you know that my contractor did fix the problem. He taped off 1/2 the room with blue painters tape. Then I beleive he lightly sanded the scratched areas and buffed the bad 1/2 of the room. He put another coat of poly on and the floor again only on the bad side of the room. Now the floor is perfect. No visible signs or marks to show where the repair started or finished. I think he's a very talented man! Again thanks for your help, I'm so glad I took the time to find a reputable company with talented people.

Look guys and gals, she is in Chicago. She found someone good in Chicago.

You may need to e-mail us each, his name, that way the next time Chicago and my installation has gone belly up, we can refer someone to them.
