I want to install 3/4" T&G hardwood flooring parallel to my existing floor trusses. Trusses are 2"x4" open web, installed 24" oc.

I don't have the option to add another 1/2" plywood subfloor because of existing door threshold limitations.

Is there any good way to block my trusses so that I can run the flooring parallel to the floor trusses? Or maybe there's another solution I have not considered?

Any suggestions?

You could always glue and screw 2X4's across between the trusses every two feet, or every 16 inches. The cuts would not need to be perfect to have a stiff sub-floor.

I was wondering if glued and screwed 2x4 (4" side up) blocking would be a sufficient solution without adding additional support to the floor trusses and/or installing the 2x4 or 2x6 blocks with the 2" side up. Maybe a 2x6 with hangers attached parallel to each truss to support the blocks? Or is that overkill?

Any other posters familiar with blocking specs for open web floor trusses want to chime in?
