To All:

As the end of my floor project comes into view, it seems there will be a significant amount of flooring left over (125 sq feet). I could take it back, but that would result in a large restocking fee. Next summer, I am going to enclose a screened-in porch that sits on my deck, and was wondering if hardwood can be installed there. For the subfloor, we plan on laying a moisure barrier, rigid insulation between studs and 3/4 plywood, and the room itself will be completely weather-tight with Anderson windows. Given that the deck sits 10 feet off the ground and the area beneath the floor will be exposed to the elements, can I install hardwood in the room? Or, am I looking at laminate? Any comments would be appreciated, thanks.

Do whatever you want. You're cool as long as you have the room enclosed including the bottom.

you may have concrete moisture problems out there, so make sure the concrete is tested for moisture or place a moisture retarder on the concrete surface.
