We are planning on installing hardwood on the bottom hallway and the hallway at the top of the stairs and wondered if there are advantages to going with hardwood versus carpet for the stairs. The stairs make a u-turn after about 9-10 steps with a small landing and then another 7 or so steps to the second floor.

Thanks.

Bill

Same advantages as hardwood over carpet in the hallways.

Hardwood does not crush as does carpet.
The only advantage I can see of carpet v. hardwood is slip resistance. Carpet may be considered safer due to slip resistance on stairs.
