Hello,

My hand-scraped red oak floors are about 10 years old and have some wear where our large dog has drooled and walked over the years. :) So I have lots of small spots on the floor where the clear coat is missing. I'm wondering what I can do about this short of redoing the entire floor.
thanks much

Bare wood can be sealed and re-coated without needing to sand the whole floor. Of course it won't look like a new floor, but this can protect the floor in spots that are worn. I like to work "wall to wall" along the edges of the boards so it looks as good as it can. I use the Basic Coatings process. The color you will get where the finish is worn, after you have finished, will look similar to how the floor looks when you dampen it with a wet sponge. You would need to be good at wood finishing to get the best color match.
