I have a home that is shaped like a T and am looking at hardwood. Is there a standard for the direction of laying the floor and is it desirable to keep the direction the same in all rooms including the halls.I have two halls one north and south the other east and west.If i keep the flooring the same direction one hall would have the flooring going crossways.I would be doing about 2500 sf. of floating floor on radiant concrete.
Great site.
Thanks in advace for your help.

Floors generally look best when run the length of a room. It is acceptable to change dirctions when going down a hallway. With a floater, it is more challanging as many foaters have onle one length and it's a bad idead to line of the end butt seams. Some brands do have verious lengths to use as starters so you don't have to have all the seams lined you. When changing directions, you need to keep the T&G in tack. You made need some spline as well. Good luck!
