i recently re-surfaced my staircase which originally was carpet, but it was 14 yrs old and in dire need of replacement. I found this website and read up on everything i could find here, also went out and bought some books and researched some more stuff at the local book stores.

i have never done hardwood on stairs before but it seemed easy enough,

measure twice, cut once.

they came out great!!!

who ever built my house did a really good job because the casing around the staircase was bult "around" the bull nose, you can see in the picture that i hadn't filled in the holes yet.

thanks for the information on this website, it really helped out!!!!

Now that there is a picture I can say nice work. ;) When I read the topic title I thought you may have used 2 1/4 stips to create the treads. But I see you went the right way (IMO) and installed stair treads. When the original treads go in they go in from behind/under the staircase Thus why they fit in the little notches you saw. Stair guys have it so easy LOL. Its trying to retro-fit the treads to look as tight as the install the stair guys get them that is an art in itself.

So again I saw good work.

I usually just add img tags to the links.

[img ]www.link.com[/img ]

But I dont leave the space between the g and the ] (If i put it taht way it will read it as code.

Or you can paste the link, then highlight it and hit the img button above the box you type in

Bonin:

You said that you resurfaced the tread, what wood did you use? That looks clean. How many hours of work would you estimate you did on that?
