New install on slab.(glue down) Checked slab for moisture, Tramex meter read less than 4% in various areas. Also same floor w/ same prob. up-stairs on ply-woood. Approx. 2-3 weeks after install noticed bubbles on edges of boards. (Approx 40 boards out of 1500 sq.ft.) If you tap bubbled areas w/ fingernail sounds hollow. You can push down on bubbles and see it move. Had a bad board removed to inspect structure of board (side view of board) and TOP LAYER OF VANEER IS DE-LAMINATED. Distibutor rep. met w/ homeowner and agreed that there is approx. 40 boards w/ problem, but wouldn't say what problem was. The sub-distributor(where wood was bought) called me later that day and said "hey, the distributor wants you to send an invoice to replace about 10 boards that are delaminated". That call was within an hour of the distibutor rep. being at the house and agreed w/ homeowner that there is approx. 40 boards. I know how some distributors are as trying to be your buddy but when there's a prob. w/ a product they sell there afraid to do anything for you. Anyway's to make a long story short, I've never had a problem with an install. I always check slab & use Bostik's glue. I'm trying to put myself in my customer's shoes and fix this prob. as if it were my house. 40 boards seems like allot to me to have replaced after I just spent allot of $ on a brand new floor. I could see if it was just a few boards. My customer didn't pay to have their brand new floor REPAIRED. What would you do, REPAIR OR REPLACE ? Sorry so long just trying to be thorough.

Unless you have deep pockets, your homeowner is at the mercy of the distributor/manufacturer. Who is paying the labor to replace the 40 boards? that could add up!!! In a gluedown floor, over concrete, I charge $65 for the first board, and $40 for each additional board, even if it is a short. On wood substrate with gluedown, I'm at $100 for the first board and $65 for each additional. Both with a $350 minimum.
