I will be redoing this landing due to damage to the floor. It was originally done by a contractor, but I will DIY this one. I have questions about the expansion gaps. The original installation had no expansion. What do you guys recommend? I'll be installing an engineered floor.

Engineered does not need an expansion gap for a small area. The cross plies resist any expansion.

Interesting. So since it's small area, nail and glue down?

It is recommended that flooring over 5 inches width be glue assisted.
