I want to refinish 900 square feet of Eterna hardwood, prefinished. Current finish is scratched (after 6 years) and too glossy. Recommendation is to use Street Shoe matte. Local South Jersey firm wants $1.50 per square foot to put down Street Shoe. Their estimate for a total refinish was about $2,400. These prices are a bit higher than I thought they would be, especially for our area. I think I will go for the Street Shoe, but I'm wondering if the price is in the ball park or should I look around for a better price? Thanks.

Hard to price different areas, they are all different. Out here you would pay 3 buck a sf total. Thats if it is square edge and no v groove to hassle with. You should always get three estimates.

$1.50 for street shoe is very cheap in my opinion. I charge approximately $2.50 sq foot to seal the floor and use two coats of street shoe or Bona traffic.

Looking at your math though , $2400.00 divided by 900 sq feet equals $2.66 per sq foot.

Thanks for the responses. The $2,400 was for sanding and refinishing, I don't think with Street Shoe. The intention with the Street Shoe was to put down some sort of bonding agent so it can be put on over the prefinish, without sanding. Does that sound reasonable?

$1.50 per square foot sounds very reasonable to buff and recoat your prefinished floor with street shoe. For a sand and refinish with street shoe you would pay about $3.50 per sq ft where I'm at.
