I ran a search but couldn't find this topic addressed. So I have some pet stains on the floor we are refinishing. I really don't want to reelpace the boards or stain the floor. As I was surveying the situation, I had the brilliant idea of pulling out my propane torch and lightly scorching the entire floor. This seems like it would give it a really cool rustic look. I know I saw this in a resturaunt but I cannot remember where. Anyway, has anyone experimented with this or are there any online resources that someone could point me towards. Of course I would have all of the necessary safety precautions in place. I would just like to check into it more. Details as to how to get patterning right, how to not burn too deeply, anything that would help. Thanks

I would love to see some pictures after you do this. I think it sounds like a great idea. If I were you I would mark the floor with a lumber crayon in the pattern you are planning to singe before you put the flame to it. This will help you visualize the end result you are looking for.
