Existing oak laminate flooring over concrete radiant heat floor is 20 yrs old and cupped and split. Styrofoam insulation under new siding. R-20 insulation blown in over existing R-20? in attic and boiler turned down to about 120F. Any ideas/opinions on a new floor?

Is this an engineered hardwood floor or a Pergo type laminate. The terms are often misapplied. Also if it is cupped, exactly when did this start? I would assume your radiant heating is old (twenty or more years old) with copper pipes in the concrete? Perhaps a leak test is in order before you decide on new flooring.

It is floating engineered layered oak. And yes it is copper pipes in concrete. It was very hot and I have recently turned down the boiler to 125F. My boiler tech is reluctant to turn it down much more. There are no leaks and the problem is from too much heat. The oak is too dry.

I'd try a humidifier to see if that helps first. Whats the temp of the floor, got an infared laser thermometer?
