 Post subject: Ground in bumpy walk ways

i have hardwood fllors just uncovered from carpet, it looks like ground in dirt in the traffic areas, not very bumpy but UGLY!! I have tried bleach but it takes out the color also, should i just sand down and revarnish or what, the rest of the floor looks great. Any help would ne greeatly appreciated.
