Sorry if this is a little off the topic of hardwood flooring, but I just finished installing hardwood on my stairs and need to replace my ratty ol' handrail with a nice classy new one.

The handrail is against the wall the whole way and doesn't involve balusters. The stairs make a 90 degree turn half way down the flight.

What's the best way to proceed with this project? I'm looking for a few steps up (pun intended) from a Home-Depot-type of installation. Are there any good sources for high-quality pre-fabricated wood handrail components? Or is my only option the custom route?

Thanks,

- Gordon
