I want to cover the entire second floor about 1000 sq ft. I intend to lay a line down the middle of the hall and work out in both directions. Is there a better way?

Do yourself a favor and pick one side of the hall. You can still go off of that centerline. No sense in finishing two walls in one hall.

I agree! Don't make it hard on yourself right off the bat!

Sliding the wood under the undercut doorjambs, as you work your way across, is a pain in the butt, sometimes. You have to hold your mouth just right, to get it in, or assemble 2 rows. Couple that with a hallway that has more then one doorway and it can be tricky. You don't want to have to do both sides like that.
