Need some help a difficult room. My client wants to put down hardwood floors in a 4 season room.

The room is in KC. floor layers are as follows top to bottom.
1/2 cdx plywood subfloor glue, 2 x 6 cedar deck boards. 2 x 10 cca joists insulated w/ r-30 insulation, ending w/ smart siding on bottom of floor joists.

At the moment no central air. winter will use space heater, summer if needed small window AC unit.

I know tile would be a better solution in room but already have 1000 sq ft on first floor . question is solid prefinished flooring or engineered exotic flooring? staple down/glue down/ floating

Any commens appreciated. leaning towards an engineered floating floor

If you are going to risk it, I think an engineered floater will be your best bet. Allow a little extra space for expansion/contraction and choose a stable species.

Ouch, the environemental extremes are there. I'd side with Gary with an emphasis on "if you want to risk it".

Thanks for the info Gary & Ray.

My solution to the enviornmental extremes to install central HVAC ductwork
supply and return lines into the room w/ oversized supply line.

2 days later HVAC installed. now the question

What would be the best solution in the 4 season room engineered hardwood
floated or 3/4" exotic hardwood flooring pre-finished?

I want to install 5" wide planks.

Would 3/4" x 5" Brazialian Teak/Cumura work? Hardness is great stability is not great. Can get it at an excellant odd lot price.

You could put ceramic tile in the room but the plank floor would have to come out, then 3/4" plywood, backboard and your tile would go in. Plank flooring is very unstable and totally unsuitable under ceramic tile.

There are some very stable hardwood floorings. The pros can suggest a few.

I just re-read the original post and noticed the plywood is over the planking.
It "might" be OK to put ceramic tile in this room. THe ceramic tile pros really don't like any plank boards as any layer under ceramic tile.
