guys, what does undercutting mean?

i hear some of you use the word usually when referring to cuts around angles?

Under cutting refers to doorjambs or any fixed object that expansion gap trim molding won't work or look well.

You undercut things, so the flooring will fit under it, so no trim molding is needed.
