I am going to install hardwood (some type) in my kitchen.
1. What floor works best for a kitchen application with small children (spills)?

2. Approximately 40 sq feet of the floor gets almost constant sun. Tile and other floors have all yellowed in this area from the sun in a few years. What type of hardwood would be best?

Thanks for you help

Hardwood in Kitchen with kids, pets, and sun is a terrible idea. I cant believe your tile faded. Based on what your describing natural stone tile floor will definitely be the best. It wont fade, take serious abuse, add value to your home.
Hardwood will fade much faster than tile obviously. Everytime you roll your fridge front to back it WILL dent your hardwood. Also constant chair legs and dropping things will cause your hardwood finish to chip and break away.
Wood is not the greatest ideas in kitchen. Go with natural stone.
I am a firm believer that every floor has a purpose and most people only run into problems with the flooring/flooring installer is when you take a product and put it in a place it really shouldnt be.

I second that opinion recommending stone floors in your situation.
