We are building a lake house, have chosen hickory for the flooring. I wanted something with a bit of character, given the lake house setting. But, I just had someone tell me that knots in character grade hickory will shrink and come out over time. I don't know if he is telling the truth, or trying to sell me select grade.

So, experts, what is the truth?

Your installer should cut out a defect if he thinks it will fail in the future, it does happen you cant always tell what is going to happen down the road.
