Hi,

I have purchased "satin" varathane water-based floor finish, and in my test patch it still looks pretty shiny. Does anyone make something even less shiny, like some sort of a true matte or dull finish? I know almost everyone on earth wants shiny floors, but I don't. I want it to look like wax, but I don't want to have to wax it monthly.

Someone tols me to use steel wool after applying the Varathane, someone else told me the fine fibers from steel wool will eventually rust in the water-based finish.

Any thoughts?

Bona makes a matte in their Traffic line that is pretty dull, however then your talking about a 2 part finish that is extremely durable.

Don't use steel wool with waterbased. It's true, you will get rust specs.

Traffic does not come in Matte, only satin and semi gloss.
Glitsa High Performance two component water-base is available in Matte.
