Is that wired plug=in OSHA compliant? :) I don't understand how yoru doing that. I'm electrically challanged. Can you draw me a picture?

I got the bag set-up under my Crafstman table saw, yea yea but it has some nice wings. I have heard of under draft systems for bigger shop saws but how are you hooking that up underneath? Need another picture. My saw is on legs.

Actually ya, the swich is OSHA certified

Normally I attach the saw to an old BD workmate. But I made a platform 6" off the ground with locking wheels. The saw and vacume fit snug. I have the vacume hose attached to the dust port in back of the saw. The dust port on that saw runs into a trough shaped thingamajiggy under the blade, so somehow with the air flow it shoots the dust through that port on the back of the saw,( where the dust bag is suppose to connect). I spliced electrical legs with plugs off the saw and vacume and routed it to a heavy duty button switch I have from a piece of machinery. Thing works GREAT.
Although I'm not used to cutting on my knees, I'm gonna give it a shot tomorrow  If I cant deal with cutting on my knees at least it's set up for the dust factor, I can cut upstairs. I have a weird querk about table saws , I cant use one that has the switch on the left, Makita is one of the few that the switch is on the right. I like to be able to switch that sucker off in a split second. This saw actually has a brake too, which is nice.

The switch has a built in delay so when the tool cuts off the vacuum will run for several seconds to clear the hoses.

The Festool vac ports do pick up alot when cutting, but not all, mainly with the router. No dust really... just stuff on the floor to vac.

Gotwood, you'd have to use a track saw to see how efficient and accurate they are.... I was not convinced either before buying. All of my wood jobs are prefinished. I'm not a sand/finish guy, and with this setup there is no danger of wood chipping, or the cut getting of slightly. I have 4 tracks of assorted lengths that can be connected and once you lay them down they won't move. If I lay it down crooked I have to pick it up and drop it down to adjust. Festool also has a neat feature that keeps the saw from backing up when plunge cutting.

I have been able to do many different things with it such as cutting in for medallions, borders, french knots, make my own herringbone from random length stock, then cut the perimeter after the patterns down. Best way way to cut off doors too without clamping or taping.

If I had to buy one today I would probably go with the Dewalt.

Not trying to convince you or change your opinion here as I felt the same way.

Jerry, really considering the Festool setup. Why do you think you would go with Dewalt?

Let me pick your brain 1 more time, if you dont mind... How do you go about securing the tracks over concrete ?

I bought my several years ago before the Dewalt was available and from what I have read in side by side reviews the Dewalt was just as good and less expensive.

The tracks have a non slip bottom and you don't fasten them down. You can lay a track down on a hardwood or laminate surface and try to push it sideways.... it won't budge. I'm spastic so that is what sold me. I can remember trying to cut along a guide board and my knees would get to slipping and sliding and trying to keep my cut line straight.

I'm also a believer that one gets a straighter/truer cut than using backup boards the way I started out doing. One installer on another forum would constantly ride me about that... until he bought the Dewalt track saw.... wasn't long before he changed his tune.

For some reason I seem to catch alot of heat because I happen to like track saws. Track saws are invaluable to me when installing prefinished.

I'll try to post some pictures on Picasa of my last slab/glue-down install using the Festool track saw.
