I'm installing unfinished brazilian walnut flooring this week, and I've never worked with walnut before. Do I put a stain on it, or does it's natural color come out with the coats of poly? If I do have to stain it, what color do I use? I want the exotic hardwood look with the different colored planks.

Thanks. 8[/b]

Use an oil based finish, no stain. You must apply the finish on the same day you complete the sanding. You may wish to consider using Park's Universal Sealer ( a de-waxed shellac ) as a first sealer coat due to the high oil content of that wood. Another good choice is Waterlox Tung Oil. Another though came to me. This is an INDOOR floor, is that correct? Then the above info is good. If this is an OUTDOOR deck, you cannot use these finishes outdoors. You will need to use a clear, outdoor deck sealer. There are many to choose from and don't ask which one. That's for you to figure out. Here, we about INDOOR floors.
