i live in the northeast and am remodeling my family room and kitchen. i am looking at brazilian teak flooring and came across Jasson Designs brazilian teak on sale at home depot - they say they just got it in. have you heard of this company? how do i evaluate the quality of the different brazilian teak floors. there is a wide range of price.

I can tell you that Jasson isn't the manufacturer , and if they "just got it in" that would scare me. Big retailers like RC Willey, Lumber Liquidators, are using celebrities for branding. ( Stay away from LL ).

IMO I would look at the track record of the manuf. themselves. Not a big fan of woods from the rain forest. But BR-111 has a good solid, ( stay away from their engineered ).

Maybe look at Anderson, excellent quality, ( all U.S. made ) .
Mullican is excellent quality.

where did you hear Scandian is now Berry? I can't find any info on that. On Berry's web site they don't say anything and still laminate as their only product. Also Scandian is still in business granted probably not for much longer.

thanks for the links - a lot of useful info. i liked the low gloss of the scandian sample at the store, as i think it doesn't show the scratches as easily. the br-111 sample was slightly more glossy. i will ask about the lengths of the boards. i have a large area, and small lengths will not look good. the store i hope to buy from sells only hardwood, and has a good reputation (dan higgins in medford, nj).

Not familiar with Ferma. Have you seen a sample? They call it "Asian Teak", so probably different than Brazilian. Also they say it's "Available in Whisky Color". Is it stained? Or are they just refering to the color of the specie.
Not that any of this is bad. Just want you to know what your getting.

Just an FYI....Jasson is a Chinese manufacturer, and the Thomasville product line you see in Home Depot is made by Jasson......so, when the Home Depot has a Jasson labeled product and says they "just got it in", it's just a special bulk purchase of material without the Thomasville label. Thought I would put my two cents in. Anyway, I agree with everyone else....I'd stay away unless you're looking for something cheap to spruce up a property you're selling! ;)
