Anyone here have similar issues? My brother and I were going to have Kahrs engineer hardwood installed at both our houses but after reading these feedbacks at Amazon, I am very concerned at the quality and the lack of support from Kahrs to stand behind their products. Have anyone have had to go after Kahrs for warranty issues?

We don't use a lot of the Kahr's product, except in a "money no object" situation. However, when we do use it, I have had only two bad experiences. First one was a few years ago when after about 7 years from install, the client called up with a gapping complaint. The product was Ash with a white stain and the gapping, although small was very noticeable. The Canadian rep inspected the floor with me and wrote up a report, two weeks later we got written approval to remove and replace the entire suite, all expenses including furniture removal from site and hotel costs.
Second one was two weeks ago, top quality product from their new mill. Floor had obvious overwood, poor milling, and shiny edges along all the boards, claim was denied.
Fortunately our installer only laid about 100 feet before calling in to report (job was 3400 sq ft total). We had to substitute with Mirage and everyone happy, except for the cost loss of the 100 feet.

Those Amazon reviews relate to user mishandling/misuse in my opinion.

I'd like to hear more Dennis

"The product was Ash with a white stain and the gapping..."

White stain explains that well. Any white floor will magnify the slightest seam.

"Second one was two weeks ago, top quality product from their new mill. Floor had obvious overwood, poor milling.."

Some stuff is actually being made by Award right now and I always wondered what was going to happen when they transferred the milling to the US. If you look at their product lines all products with board lengths at 69 1/4" come from Award. The only other one made outside of Kahrs is the Spriit..imported from China from my understanding.

Ya Ken, the way we were treated at the time of the Ash White complaint, was totally opposite of the more recent mess with the natural maple.
The Ash had been terribly abused by the housekeeping staff, and general attrition of the surface by ladies in their spike heels, etc. I had only called Kahr's as a gesture, never thinking they would step up for this complaint. This was about 8 years ago, and the floor was about 7 years old at the time.
The latest complaint was one month ago, and started at the onset of the job. Disasterously poor milling, way more colour variation in the maple that you should expect from a "top quality" product, and lousy finishing.
The stuff looked nothing like the clean floor in their high priced brochures.

dennis/ken in europe khars are top notch, if the problem was caused by them they pay for removal and refit regardless of cost. think this is purley down to being their largest market and the reputation they have gained over the years. personally always liked a couple of the bruce products but never had to work with one (not cheap here) but noticed you lads dont really rate  the quility

For some reason I get the impression from the guys on the Forum that they dont like Bruce. I was brought up installing it, and happen to like it. I still like their products under Armstrong.
As far as quality they have a large product range, entry level to top.

we have just installed the Kahrs Woodloc 5S, Oak Hilo‏ engineered hardwood floors and they started cracking and splitting , has anyone had this problem? It looks like a wood defect to me. We just installed it 4 months ago. If anyone has had this problem please post!

We just installed the supreme grande espace flooring and are having issues. We had them sitting around for 4 months before installing and now they are de-laminating, shrinking and cracking. We are waiting for the inspector to come out but they are taking there sweet time and is holding are project up.

I have heard that Kahrs has been bought out in the past few years.
