Hello,

I have radiant installed over my old 2 X 8 subloor and then 1/2 inch plywood over furring strips sandwiching the radiant pipes. Over this I have installed engineered hardwood floors.

The manufacture rep came out to review our the install and approved the install and it would be covered under warranty.

So now the question, it looks like I might have a leak in the radiant piping and it needs to be repaired. What is the best way to lift the floating floor and unscrew the 4 x 8 plywood sheets to get to the piping? The leak has not hurt either the plywood or the hardwood and it drains into the crawlspace. The 2 X 8's have been there for over 40 years and they do not seem to be damaged either. I caught it early.

The floating floor are strips that are 5 1/4 wide T & G glued. The room is 14 x 20 with full access through to the edges through two different doors.

Any thoughts how to get to the pipes underneath this great looking floor.

Thanks in advance!!!!

Kirk

There is a crawlspace, but it is very small. I also do not have the exact location of where the leaks is, just a estimate of the area.

Lets say I had the ability to do it from below, would I cut up my base subfloor? How would I repair it so that it wouldn't effect the secondary subfloor and the Hardwoods?
The pipes are laying directly on the 2 x 8 subfloor and I would be afraid of cutting the pipes from below.

Just checking if anyone has any input here? I have to do something before it starts getting cold.

Thanks,
