So a bunch of these stains have been appearing around my main floor. They are lighter colored on my dark hard wood with white spots. They are smooth to the touch. Not sure how we got them, but more and more keep appearing of different sizes. We don't think it's from liquid. Possibly it could be from the cleaner we've been using - Pine Sol - although it says right on the bottle it can be used on hard wood. Anyways, more concerned on how we can get rid of them! We've tried vinegar, mayonnaise, peanut butter, a hot iron - nothing seems to work. Have a look and any advice would be great, hope someone has seen these before.

How old is your floor? I would call the manufacturer. The finish ought not to be failing for at least a year, maybe longer.

The floor is probably 7 years old. Was purchased and installed but the previous homeowner.

Could be a pet stain if you have any dogs or cats

To fix it, since it looks like its pre-finished, I'd call around to find a local shop that does repairs and just swap out the bad boards. It'll look the best that way, though you'll need to figure out which manufacturer made the stuff (check the basement, sometimes you'll have a few planks left over in the furnace room).
