Living and dining room floors (1st ever wood floor project)

This was my first hardwood floor project. I've never seen them installed before so I was very scared going into this project. I used 2 1/4" x 3/4" select red oak floor. The finish is Last n Last 1500 water based satin. I got a whole lot of good tips on the installation and sanding from a friend who is a master carpenter. I got most of the finishing advice from this forum. So far, the floor has held up pretty nicely. The floor is about 6 months old in these pictures. I'm thinking about doing the stairs in the foyer for my next wood flooring project.

It looks very good, and I agree, it looks like a pro did it. You laid the main rooms on a diagonal, and then did a straight-lay in one of the rooms?
