I used to be able to get the EFA but that place stopped stocking it, only can get Best and MVP4. I sure would like to try and use those other new products.

I've been using EFA for quite a while now exclusively. All considered... IMO best adhesive around period. I believe it's the old TKO.

Thanks for the info.

Virginia Hardwood and Galleher in Phoenix are your nearest distributors of our adhesives and they stock all of our products including Vapor Lock. They probably have a dealer or two in Tucson that can get it for you.

If you are interested in trying our newest Bostik Adhesives, let me know.

Tim

That would be a resounding yes! The only places I can walk in and get (stocked) Best and MVP4 is at HD (costs to much) and DeSoto Sales. Have to order anything else.

DO NOT WORK ON TOP OF YOUR WORK!!!!!

You know, as work across the room!! Impossible!

I'm a light weight and glue oozes and squeezes out everywhere and if your not careful you have it tracked everywhere!

This stuff is slippery. Boards even taped, slide and move. Tape all end joints tight, not just strips across the rows. Keep checking for opened gaps.

The extra adhesive also makes the flooring not completely flat. Perfect trowel lines and stay off the freshly glued flooring as you work and it works perfectly.

I'll stick with WFM PlaniSeal, or Bostik's MVP. The additional profit on labor for application of a prior coating, helps my bottom line.

Ya, your getting in and out faster if you can make it work, which for a retailer is great. But for the installer, you make it sound like MVP/WFM application is free labor.
This is all to supposedly save the retailer labor cost. I charge more to use that one coat application stuff.

Why not use a ¼x¼x¼ v notch with BST? BEST? 980/990, or any moisture cure urethane to get the coating thickness? Isn't this new adhesive more costly per gallon, and lower spread rates?

Great point. That is the problem with trowels that have tabs on them....you are putting too much material down and the boards move too much. Our new single-step product, Bostik VaporLock, utilizes a 1/4x1/4 V. (no spaces between the notches). This puts enough material down to ensure a solid membrane, but not enough to create the mess. Cost on Vapor Lock is around 30.00/gallon (very rough numbers), and you get around 30 sf/gall which puts your material cost at $1.00/sf.

Funny thing is if I order from Phoenix it costs me more than if i can pick it up from Desoto off the shelf so to speak. As big as you guys are you'd think you could get someone to stock something here besides Best, since about 50% of the hardwood going down here is glued down.

Have not gotten any email from ya since I sent you a PM.

When you get anything with a coating more than 45 sq.ft. per gallon, your in a mess with anything thinner than 5/8" thick wood.

The trowels with tabs must put down what, 30 gallons a sq.ft.

You mean 30 sf per gallon I am sure. I squeezed in another gluedown before Christmas so I will try out the 950. Luckily it is a square 400sf room.

I may even think about making up some 1/2" ply strips with commercial crapet glued to the bottom. I just think it's gonna be like working on top of a glue swamp

I wonder what the difference is here with the Vapor Lock?

Well besides the obvious install flaws in the video that adhesive looks like the old urethane adhesive. But I am sure it is not a solvent based one. Looks great but my Lowes out here does not stock it. Guess I better check with the distributors in Phoenix....sigh. To bad I'll get hammered with a freight charge!

I would think that's Vapor Lock or Ultra Set, private labeled for Lowes?

SP, You can't pick it up at Desoto in Tucson? :? If they don't stock it order a few pails on their next truck? I would think they should stock it :? I guess maybe they stock tab/swamp type?

Blew me away....Yesterday I found out JF Bellini closed down out here. Not sure, but I think there was a branch in Phoenix. They didn't carry Bostik, just sayin.

What they carry is what they carry and sell. Special orders are not that cost effective when they charge a hundred bucks per pallet and I ain't ordering a pallet lol
