Hi guys,

I am about to put some 3/4 solid hardwood flooring in my family room.
I have a fire place with a rectangular marble plate in front of it. What is the
correct way to work around that? Am I supposed to frame it with one full plank and mitered corners or do I just butt against it?

If framing is the way to go, should i start my layout from the fireplace so I don't have to trim any boards lengthwise?

Thanks for you r advice.
Have a nice day.
Heiko

Picture frame it and leave a gap. Fill the gap with an elastomeric sealant.

That is a failsafe. If you don't have any reason to expect movement, you can butt the picture frame to the marble.
