We have just installed 3/4" brazilian cherry hardwood floors throughout our home and love the look. We need to tape down cardboard so that cabinets can be installed day after tomorrow. Our installer said we should use blue tape, but the blue tape packaging says not for lacquered surfaces. I'm confused what tape to use. Thanks!

The finish on your floors is not laquer so you should be fine with blue tape. At worst, if the tape is left on for more than a few days, you may have to remove sticky residue. Use as little as possible and remove slowly. I believe now there are two types of blue tape and one is easier on finishes so try to use that one. Ask the salesperson at the hardware store which one is easiest on finishes.

Thanks so much for the reassuring advice. It's all a learning process and I've got a lot to learn!

If the blue tape is left on too long, it can effect the finish. It can also lift the finish, if there is an adhesion problem with the finish.

Thanks for the input. I actually managed to cover most of the floor without any tape even touching it just by overlapping the cardboard a lot. It's a masterpiece! Any tape that does touch is under cupboards, etc.. The advice is appreciated for future reference though :D
