Thanks to some great advice on here, my wood floor project is looking great....thanks!

I'm heading into the kitchen now with the flooring and am wondering about putting something between the refrigerator and the floor. Flooring is 5" plank, 3/4" prefinished solid oak tongue and groove. Are people using a felt pad/mat? Anything? Nothing? Any thoughts on moving the refrigerator over the flooring into it's spot? And how about under the electric stove?

Thanks in advance for all the help. :)

I have never used or heard of anyone putting something under the fridge. As for moving it Roll it over a piece of luan or masonite. Despite the name hardwood it will dent under the weight of even an empty fridge.

I'm having hardwoods installed on my main level including the kitchen soon, and as luck would have it, my washer/dryer are located on the far end of my kitchen, across from the fridge  I will get one of those tray things for the washer, not w/ the intent of protect the floor from denting, but from water, in the hopes that it will contain small amounts, and I looked at a large size that would perfectly fit my fridge - I am considering this, as while I have never at this point had issues w/ the washer, my fridge up and malfunctioned and leaked all over my current linoleum floor a couple of years ago. If this doesn't look terrible and block the front vents, I am going to try this.

I would think twice about one of those "tray things", they are non-pourous and will damage the Hardwood.

Do you know what type of damage would result?

They create an ongoing surface moisture condition resulting in delamination and or cupping. They can also wick moisture up through concrete.

Traps moisture underneath it. Floor needs to breathe.
