I am trying to get a good finish om MDF board. Does anyone have advice to a product i should use to seal off the pores before I apply my finish?

Are you referring to applying finish to medium density fiberboard that has no veneer? I would just stain and finish in the regular way. You may want to use a stain controller first. MDF absorbs stain quickly. Then when dry, apply the finish of your choice, at least two coats.
