I've gone through 2 expensive brisel brushes that I used to trim out polyurethane-no matter how much mineral spirits I put on them to clean them and try to work all the stuff out-the brushes will become rock hard in a day or two. I just cannot get all the poly out of them (I am using oil based if that makes a difference).

Any good ideas?

Nick

just leave them in the bucket. When finished drop them in. They last forever like that. Everytime i finish a bucket i drop the same brush in the new one.

^^^ +1 Ive been using that method for years. I have 4 buckets, 1 for stain, one for first/Second coats, 1 for satin final coats, and one for semi final coats. Grabbed some plumbig parts in the lid of the can so I can seal it up and have the handle sticking out of the top, without alowing dust from the van to get inside. Or you can just drill/hammer and screwdriver a hole in the lid. Works well enough

Are you saying you store your brushes in the actual finish? Or in the can of thinner?

in the finish, so long as you have the can filled to cover all the bristles, works great, also keep my applicatorsin the 5 gallon ploy buckets ;)
