I am in the process of building a new home. When the floors were being finished, I wanted moisture cured on my floors (select grade, rift/quartered white oak, wide plank), but we did not yet have heat in the house and I was told we needed consistently warm temperatures, so "regular" poly (I am not certain what type) was applied in 2 coats. We are due for a third coat.

Can moisture cured poly be applied at this point? If not, is there some other very sturdy finishing that can be applied?

Thanks

Umm... they sanded your floors with no heat? That's a no no!
I' d hold off as long as possible because when the temp stabilizes, and the RH drops, you may see some shrinking, which will produce cracks. I'd put the last coat on at the last possible minute. They may need to hide some cracks, and that should be done before final application.

that is true living conditions are a(must)when dealing with wood flooring eventhough you have quarterd sawn white oak stil heat needs to be on .when applying final coat, product should have a temperture for best performance. wishing you best of luck in your project. tom wentzwood

Thanks. Been living on it a while now and need to fix a few areas. Can moisture cured poly now be put down as a final coat on top of non-moisture cured poly without sanding it all off? Thanks
