What is wrong with using Murphy's on a wood floor???

I saw someone post about this - seemed liked a negative. That is what our housecleaners use. We have engineered BR 111 flooring.

Is it the moisture? They only damp mop and then dry it up.

I don't want to use the "recommended" product from BR 111 because it is highly toxic and I have two little ones that are on the floor a lot.

I usually use vinegar/water spray in between cleaning and a damp mop. It dries really quick.

Is that a problem??

Will the Murphy's ruin our floor finish?

Murphy's contains neither oil nor soap and they will not divulge all the ingredients. So, that cleaner may not ruin your existing finish but the problem is when it comes time to have a maintenance recoat performed. If the existing finish is polluted by the Murphy's cleaner, then the new top coat will not bond or perform properly. Most major finish manufacturer's warn against using "oil soaps" as cleaners. There are generic wood floors cleaners for urethane finished floors in most hardware stores. My favorite is Bona Hardwood Floor Cleaner available in flooring supply distributors and many retail flooring outlets. Did you read this?
