Hello everyone

I've done a lot of research and heard many different techniques but I'm having issues finishing me floor restoration

It's about 300 sq ft. I used a drum sander with 36 grit.
Then used a square buff with up to 120 grit to finish it.

I then vacuumed , wiped down with damp cloth and swept the floor well

I then stained with 2 coats and it looked great.
* looking back I should have went over it with a fine sand paper to smooth it out.*

I don't know why but I decided to use minwax semigloss oil base poly. I spread it with a 6 inch spreader from lowes.

So my problem is that it's streaky, has a lot of bumps and hasn't fully dried in3 days. Still tacky. And needs another coat or 2.

So any suggestions on what I should do once the oil based poly has dried ?
For instance ; what grit to sand over the first coat to smooth it out and would it be best to put down a water based poly over the oil based ?

I know the mistakes I've made already. Lol. I just want advice on how to finish it the best way.

After the stain dries we polish with steel wool to cut the grain raise smooth.
If the grain raise is not polished out the first coat of finish will be rough.
You will need to sand between coats of finish with a 100 or 120 grit paper, now. The fish coat will become smoother with more coats of finish.
It is not necessary for the 1st coat of finish to be completely cured before sanding between coats. It should powder when sanding. After the first coat is smoothed out, the second coat will not raise the grain and become more like a finish coat. With two coats down you may wait another day or so before the final coat, sanding with a finer paper.
Grain raise is from fuzz not cut flush to the surface that absorbs the finish and stands up as it dries, making the surface rough.
