Have you seen the advertisement for Bostik's adhesive?

The one where they have an Invoice, showing how much it cost to fix a failed job, with 2 pictures of pulled up gluedown wood, that supposedly failed because of an inferior glue.

Look closly at the pictures, and at the top of the Invoice, where it reads what the replacement was for.

LOL!!!! A picture says a 1000 words.

What do you see?

Perry,
I think I may have seen it in the past but don't recall the details. Can you scan it and post it here? Thanks!

To me it looks like Bostiks Best on the wood and floor and it looks like they let it set up before they installed the wood

OK, I'm looking at the ad. On the back of the pulled up boards, there are places that don't have any adhesive on them. That means that either there were low spots in the slab/subfloor and the boards didn't seat properly and/or an improper trowel was used and/or the adhesive wasn't troweled evenly with a consistant spread rate. Has nothing to do with the TYPE of adhesive. I'd say installer error; not glue failure!

To me it looks like the adhesive on the wood was never stuck to the floor and the adhesive on the floor was never stuck the wood, if it was hollow spots there would be glue missing from the floor where the wood was stuck properly and whats the reason for pulling the wood up in the first place its not cupped, crowned or buckling, hollow spots can be injected to a certain degree.

I think the point Perry is making is that Bostik's is claiming that the reason for the flooring having to be pulled up was due to adhesive failure. It's clear by looking at the pictures that the adhesive did NOT fail but that the flooring wasn't properly installed for any of the reasons I mentioned. The ad is misleading! And it's true that while hollow spots can be repaired by injecting with either epoxy or adhesive, it's difficult to hide that hole you just drilled into the floor. Not too many customers happy about puttyed holes in their glued down floors!
