We just purchase a new house and the construction should be completed by September. My question is should we paint the interior first or install hardwood flooring first? We are planning on painting most of the interior.

I first painted the entire interior of my house, and am now 80% of the way through installation of hardwood. Although we have dinged the walls in a few spots and have to do some minor touchup, it made the painting job a lot easer. I trashed all of the old casing and molding, painted the new trim, and then installed it after the floor was done. No tricky cutting, no need for masking tape etc.

All wet trades, painting included, should be completed 2 days before the hardwood is brought in to be acclimated.

You don't want the moisture that is in the latex paint, to cause your wood to gain moisture content.

The humidity in the rooms will rise when you start painting.
