I would like to learn more about the polyurethane finishes used to refinish wooden floors.

I would like to rate and evaluate the following polyurethane finishes:

1). LENMAR - An oil based "professional grade" (?) polyurethane finish
2). GLITSA - Oil based polyurethane
3). DURO-SEL - Also an oil based polyurethane

Which one is better ? Which one lasts longer ?

Regards,
Elio Oliva

Dura-Seal is the industry standard. Used by many pros. Easy to work with, slower drying than some, thinner consistancy so doesn't build up as guickly as some others. Used to carry a performance warranty, for what that's worth. Personally, I feel it is over-rated and over-priced. Lenmar makes their own and it's good. Glitsa's poly is a generic made by who knows? with their label on it. All OMU's are only moderately durable. My favorite for performance and price is Bona's Woodline Commercial. My favorite for price and ease of use is Basic's OMU. Lenmar isn't widely marketed here on the west coast. For value and performance, if you can get Lenmar in 5-gal. pails, that would be the way to go.

Ever try Last-N-Last? My personal Favorite. I was a D/S guy but now prefer L-n-L. Going back and seeing results on floors now a few years later and L-n-L wins. Very similar to Dura seal in dry time and application. Only draw back is slightly higher cost and you need to keep it stirred up during application on satin finish. Higher solid content equalls faster settling in the container so keep it stirred up during application. (good habbit with any OMP (oil modified poly.)) Las-N-Last is by Absolute Coatings.
Hope that helps ya,
William
