New house with concrete pad floor standard for Las Vegas Nevada.

Building installed Virginia Vintage Hand Scraped Hickory Autumn wood flooring.

Several areas have had boards "pop" when walked on. Builders repair for the first two areas have been to "sprig" the boards down with a small nail.

I have found several "hollow spots" and virtually all areas with hollow spots have developed the popping board syndrome.

Any suggestions or guidance as to whether the builders floor company needs to do something else besides "sprig" the boards as they become suspect?

Ken's link is a great place to start. Inadequate amount of a rubber-resin adhesive is the likely culprit.

DO NOT let them go around sticking sprigs in your floor. They will back out. I guarantee it! When they do ,you have little knives sticking out of your finish floor.

The dri-tac kit is effective ,cheap and easy to use.

The lack of floor preparation is rearing its ugly head!!

Sprigs?
That guy needs to be sued!

They either need to tear it all out and do the proper floor prep, or inject adhesive, in all the spots you have problems with.

You may have excessive concrete moisture as well. Moisture swells the wood resulting in excessive expansion that is a bond breaker as the wood swells past the ability of the glue.
Should you wish an inspector to inspect and test for purposes of learning the real problem, contact Marty Sures in Las Vegas. His information is listed at www.nicfi.org.
or email me for the information.
