Hi all,

We are using Sika Primer MB as a moisture barrier on our slab before we install our floor. I am assuming this is an epoxy because we have to mix two products together for it to set up. According to the store, we are supposed to "mix it up," "don't mess with it too much." He said they use it often in more industrial situations and it is very easy to work with.

However I am reading the online instructions and it says we need to mix it for three minutes with a mixing paddle.

The problem is that I need to borrow a half inch drill to use my mixing bit (we just returned one we had on loan from a friend after leveling our floor for the past three weeks). Can I just mix it really well by hand? Or is this a case that I can't mess with the specificed method?

Thanks!

Laura

Dont mix it by hand. You will not get it mixed thoroughly.

A drill gives you more consistency, resulting in a more evenly mixed product. But, I have mixed self leveling concrete with my cordless drill; not reccomended, but works if it is a one time thing. You need a heavy duty drill for the long term, day in, and day out chore of mixing product, but not for this ONE application.

Thanks guys. We used the drill and got very good results.

Man that stuff STINKS! Needed two coats, but we had plenty left over. We start laying the floor tomorrow morning. Hooray!
