Thinking about removeing my old lamanite desk top and makeing another out a strip oak that I had left over from a job, Should I coat it with poly or something else?, I was just going to glue each pc, and clap the whole thing together, area is about 2.5'x4.5', Can you think of a better way.

is this 3/4" flooring? I've tried gluing it up T&G before and the normal NOFMA milled T&G profiles aren't designed for gluing. Typically, the boards bow up very easily. I found gluing them to a 3/4" plywood subtrate easier and better. Just like a mini floor. You could coat with any poly you wish. On my oak built desk top, I put a piece of 1/4" tempered glass where I write on.

Yep it's solid 3/4. I'm on the fence about it, Not sure I want the 3/4 ply underneath but understand why. Figured it would be alot cheaper then buying a new one.

One thing you could try is gluing the boards together, then underneath, gluing and screwing some boards going horizontally at 90 degrees to stabilize the top, about every 16" or so.
