I am on a shoestring budget.
There is an installer in the area who will sell me his left overs.
Many are still in boxes.
They are all differing shades of prefinished oak. Brand Shaw.
They are all the same thickness.
He will sell me as much as I need at $1 a foot maybe less. I need about 800 s/f.

I was thinking of installing it all and then having it refinished like regular floor.
Is this crazy?
Will the boards joints be as tight as unfinished?

What say you?

Yes it is a little crazy. Its not a problem to refinish the prefinished floor
but you are going to pay around 2.5 to 3.00 a sqft for this service.
Not to mention be out of your house for a week why the floors are being finished. You can get a prefinished floor for around 5.00 sqft + install and will not have time out of the house. The finish on most prefinished floors are harder than any job site finish that we can do also.
